Woman (50) dies after being rescued by son from blaze

The woman was pulled from the house after her son returned home to find it on fire at around 4.30am.

A WOMAN WAS pulled from a blaze at her home by her son in the early hours of this morning, but tragically did not survive.

Gardaí are investigating the fatal house fire, which took place at a house in Mountain View, Hacketstown, Co Carlow.

The 50-year-old woman was pulled from the house by her 20-year-old son, who had returned home at 4.30am to find the house on fire, gardaí said.

The woman was later pronounced dead. Her body has been taken to Waterford Regional Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be held.

The scene is preserved for a technical examination, which is currently underway. According to the gardaí, early indications are that the fire started accidentally.
