A 38-year-old woman is killed after a fire shortly before 6am this morning; there were no other people present.

GARDAÍ IN COUNTY SLIGO are investigating the circumstances surrounding a house fire in Ballymote in which a 38-year-old woman was killed.

The fire was discovered at the terraced house in Marren Park at approximately 5:45am this morning.

There were no occupants in the house other than the deceased woman, and it is thought that the blaze was contained to an upstairs bedroom.
