Death of woman found with serious head injuries not being treated as suspicious

A post mortem on the woman concluded this evening.

GARDAÍ HAVE CONFIRMED they are not treating the death of a woman in Cavan town as suspicious.

The  54-year-old woman died after being found with head injuries outside an apartment in the town this morning.

Gardaí were called to the scene at Kempton Court at 6.35am. Emergency services attended and she was taken by ambulance to Cavan General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

As a result of a post mortem examination carried out this afternoon by Dr Michael Curtis, Deputy State Pathologist her death is not being treated as suspicious, the gardaí said.

A file will now be prepared for the coroner’s office.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Kempton Court or Drumalee areas of Cavan town between 3am and 7am to get in touch with them. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cavan Garda Station 049 4368800 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
