Woman in a critical condition after stabbing in north Dublin

The incident happened last night in Donaghmede Park in the north of the city.

A WOMAN IS in a critical condition after being stabbed several times at her home in north Dublin last night.

Gardaí say the woman, who lived alone, was stabbed at her home in Donaghmede Park in a vicious assault.

She is in a critical condition in Beaumount Hospital, RTÉ reports.

Gardaí are working to establish the circumstances behind the attack and say the person responsible may have discarded bloody clothes.

The scene has been sealed off pending a technical examination.

TV3 reports that neighbours have described the woman’s bedroom as an “abbatoir”.

No arrests have been made.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who may have heard or seen anything suspicious in the area to contact Coolock garda station on 01 666 4200, the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
