The 19-month-old boy is now in care.

A 20-YEAR-OLD WOMAN is due to appear in a South African court for allegedly trying to sell her child online for 5,000 Rand (about €335).

The woman placed an ad for her 19-month-old baby boy on the website Gumtree.

The BBC reports that she is expected to be charged with human trafficking when she appears in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates Court.

The woman was arrested after a police agent posed as a buyer.

Her son is now being looked after by social workers.
