Woman in her 70s dead and three injured after two-car crash

The driver of the car the deceased was travelling in, as well as a man and woman in the second vehicle, were also hospitalised.

A WOMAN IN her 70s has died and three people have been injured in a road crash in Co Louth.

The deceased was a passenger in one of two cars involved in the collision at Clonmore in Togher just before 11.30pm last night.

She was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the car she was travelling in, a woman in her early 60s, was seriously injured in the crash.

A 28-year-old man and 29-year-old woman in the other vehicle were also hurt. Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The road remains closed this morning to facilitate garda forensic collision investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí have asked any witnesses to contact them at Drogheda garda station on 041 9874200, the garda confidential line on 1800 666111 or any other garda station.
