Three men arrested after assault rifles and pistols are seized in Meath

Several hundred rounds of ammunition were seized when gardaí stopped two vehicles.

THREE MEN HAVE been arrested following the seizure of firearms and ammunition in Co Meath.

Two assault rifles and several hundred rounds of ammunition were seized when gardaí stopped two vehicles in the Ratoath area.

In a follow up phase of the operation, gardaí said two semi-automatic pistols, silencers and further quantities of ammunition were also found in Ratoath.

Three men, aged in their 30s, have been arrested and are currently being detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act at Ashbourne and Kells garda stations.

Gardaí said the operation, targeting organised criminal groups involved in the provision and distribution of firearms, is ongoing.
