Woman in Mayo is fifth pedestrian killed on Irish roads in 2015

She was hit at around 7:30 this evening.

A WOMAN HAS been died after being struck by a car in Mayo this evening.

The incident occurred at 7.30pm on the N5 at Bohola.

The pedestrian, who was in her 50s, was struck by a car which was travelling in the Swinford direction. She is the fifth pedestrian to be killed on Irish roads in 2015.

The male driver was not injured in the collision.

The road at the scene is closed and is not expected to re-open until tomorrow morning.

Diversions are in place and gardaí are asking heavy goods vehicles to avoid the area.
