Crèche worker in her 40s in critical condition after being stabbed in stairwell of flat complex

It happened just before 8am this morning.

A WOMAN IS in a critical condition in hospital after being stabbed several times in Dublin City centre this morning.

It happened in the stairwell of School Street flat complex just before 8am.

The woman in her 40s was taken by ambulance to St. James’s Hospital, her condition is described as critical but stable.

Neighbours believe the woman may have been on her way to work at a nearby crèche when she was attacked.

A man in his 40s was arrested by gardaí a short time later and is being questioned at Kevin Street Garda Station.

The scene is being preserved for a technical examination and gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
