Young man killed in crash with three cars

The man was treated at the scene but was pronounced dead a short time later.

A 26-YEAR-OLD man has been killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Athlone, Westmeath.

The motorcyclist was involved in a crash with three cars at the Pigeons in the town at around 8pm last night.

He was treated by emergency services at the scene but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The road is currently closed to traffic and local diversions are in place. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested to examine the scene and the coroner has been notified.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact Athlone Garda Station on 090-6498550, the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
