Gardaí investigating accident in which male driver was killed after his car left the road.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING FOR witnesses to a crash at Ballymaquirk, Co Cork, in which a 19-year-old man was killed.

He was the only occupant of a car which left the road and crashed at around 6am today. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A section of the N72 Mallow to Killarney Road at Ballymaquirk has been closed for a technical examination of the crash, and diversions are in place.

AA Roadwatch is warning drivers to take extra care on the roads this morning, given very wet conditions and high winds.
