1. #MURDER A man has been charged with the murder of Olivia Dunlea (36) in Cork’s Passage West area on Sunday morning. Darren Murphy (36) appeared before Cork City Court today. Ms Dunlea died in “violent circumstances” before the fire at her home in the Pembroke Crescent estate occurred.

2. #PISTORIUS Oscar Pistorius has told a South African court that he did not intend to kill Reeva Steenkamp. In a statement today, he laid out his version of events on the night that Steenkamp was killed, saying he thought someone had come into his house, causing him to shoot into the bathroom. Steenkamp was buried this morning.

3. #KATY FRENCH The family of the late model Katy French have said they were ‘left without a full picture’ of her death. They made the statement after Kieron Ducie and Ann Corcoran were given suspended sentences today after pleading guilty to charges of conspiring to supply drugs on the evening that French collapsed. She fell into a coma from which she never recovered.

4. #IRISH LIFE Irish Life has been sold by the government for €1.3 billion to Canadian company Great-West Lifeco. The Irish Life name will be retained as part of the deal. Irish Life said that the terms and conditions of customers’ policies will not be impacted by the change in circumstances.

5 .#DIAMOND HEIST Thieves have pulled off a huge diamond heist at Brussels airport, driving through barriers to get to a security truck. They made off with $50 million worth of diamonds which were being loaded onto a Swiss aircraft bound for Zurich.
