The 5 at 5 5 minutes, 5 stories, 5 o’clock…

EACH WEEKDAY EVENING, TheJournal.ie brings you five things you should know before you head out the door.

1. #RIP The bodies of Jolanta Lubiene and her daughter Enrika (8), who were found dead at their home in Killorglin on 16 June, are to be flown home today from Dublin to be laid to rest in Lithuania. The bodies are being repatriated to Jolanta’s home village of Gedrimai after funds were raised by their family and friends. A Lithuanian man, Aurimus Andruska, has been charged with Jolanta’s murder and the unlawful killing of Enrika.

2. #ABORTION Amendments from TDs Clare Daly and Joan Collins tabled in relation to the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill 2013 would allow for lawful terminations in cases of rape and incest. They have also called for women to be able to obtain a legal abortion if “she believes it is in her best interests to do so”. They are among a number of TDs tabling amendments to the proposed bill.

3. #GAS SCAM Gardaí have warned about a gas meter scam that they and Bord Gáis say could lead to explosions and a potential catastrophe. They said today that they are investigating the tampering of a number of gas meters in the Dublin area. The investigation began in Kilmainham, with follow-up searches of around 10 houses. Gardaí believe that meters in around 200 premises were interfered with.

4. #WELFARE Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton has said that cuts in her department in October’s budget will be ‘far south’ of the €440 million suggested last week. She said she will look to protect core welfare payments but also said that there have been no Government discussions on the budget just yet.

5. #PHOENIX PARK Gardaí have put a ‘robust policing plan’ in place ahead of the Justin Timberlake, The Killers and Mumford & Sons concerts this month. Last year’s Swedish House Mafia performance there was marred by stabbings and drugs-related deaths. Gardaí will carry out intense searches for alcoholic beverages as people go into the concert site, and will have a ‘low tolerance policy’ around disruptive conduct.
