The 5 at 5 5 minutes, 5 stories, 5 o’clock…

EACH WEEKDAY EVENING, TheJournal.ie brings you five things you should know before you head out the door…

1. #ANGLO TAPES New Anglo Tapes have emerged, having been sent to Sinn Féin on memory stick. The party has decided not to release the recordings under legal advice, but says they contain seven individual conversations recorded internally at Anglo in 2008.

2. #HOSPITAL The Taoiseach has said that a letter sent by hospital chiefs to the HSE warning of the impact of cutbacks is not being treated like a joke. He insisted that patient safety is an ‘absolute priority’ of the Health Minister James Reilly.

3. #FOOD The Food Safety Authority of Ireland served closure orders on nine businesses in October, and all but three have had the orders lifted. The number of issuances so far this year has already passed last year’s level.

4. #SEIZURE The gardaí seized cocaine worth €385,000 and parts of eight stolen vehicles during 419 searches that they carried out yesterday. They also arrested 89 people during the planned nationwide operation.

5. #NEW CHANNEL UTV is to launch UTV Ireland, and promises that it will include serious news and current affairs alongside UK soaps. A new agreement will give UTV exclusive Irish rights to progammes that are currently TV3 staples like Coronation St and Emmerdale.
