1. #SINGAPORE: An Irish woman has been found dead in Singapore. Dublin woman Orla Daly, 25, had been living and working in the Queenstown area. She was found dead in bed by a friend earlier and the circumstances of her death are unclear.

2. #IRA: Gerry Adams has revealed that the IRA was responsible for the death of prison officer Brian Stack, who was shot in Dublin 30 years ago. The Sinn Féin leader said he has been working with Stack’s sons to find answers to questions surrounding the March 1983 killing.

3. #ABORTION: The right of doctors to refuse to carry out abortions is “not absolute” the Department of Health has said today in response to queries about comments from Mater Hospital board member Fr Kevin Doran who said the hospital cannot carry out abortions because of its ethos.

4. #SEANAD: Support for the abolition of the upper house has fallen in the latest Red C/Paddy Power poll with just under half of decided voters in favour of abolishing the Senate. Meanwhile, senators are to reconvene on 20 August to debate organ transplant legislation which Fianna Fáil senator Mark Daly wants annulled.

5. #CREDIT CARD: A man in Russia turned an unsolicited offer of a credit card to his advantage when he rewrote the terms and conditions and the card company unwittingly signed off on an unlimited credit line. The bank attempted to sue the man but a court has ruled in his favour.
