1. #800 BABIES: The Minister for Education has said he supports a call for an investigation into all mother-and-baby homes in Ireland. He said the precise nature of the investigation still needs to be decided.

2. #HANG ON: The government has postponed the first meeting of the banking inquiry after it lost a majority on the committee. It is understood that the issue will now be referred to the Committee on Procedure and Privileges.

3.#INDUSTRIAL ACTION: The Minister for Transport has again called on Aer Lingus management and cabin crew to use the LRC to settle a dispute over rosters. Talks broke down late last week.

4. #CLOSE ONE: A driver had a “miraculous escape” after a car was involved with a collision with a train last night. An investigation has been launched into the incident.

5. #THE YOUNG ONES: Comedian and actor Rik Mayall has died. He starred in programmes such as Bottom, Drop Dead Fred, The Young Ones. You also might remember him as Lord Flashheart in Blackadder…
