OOD MORNING.
Here’s all the news that you need to know as you start your day.
1. At least 15 people were killed overnight at Nuseirat camp in central Gaza after an Israeli airstrike at a school for displaced Palestinians, the region’s civil defence service have said.
The Israeli military has said it was “looking into the reports”. The vast majority of Gaza’s 2.4 million people have been displaced by the Israeli offensive into the region, sparked by Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel last year.
Many people have sought shelter and refuge in school buildings. Israel’s military regularly accuses Hamas of hiding in the buildings, where often thousands of displaced Gazans seek shelter. Hamas have denied the accusations.
2. In the wake of overwhelming dissent regarding Irish Rail’s revamped timetable, today marks a return to the previously held timetable – with a few minor changes.
From today, the morning Connolly route services will revert to the pre-26 August service patterns.
Irish Rail said that this will “rebalance the timetable” while accommodating improved frequency on a number of Intercity routes, including the Dublin to Belfast route. See the full details here.
3. Tánaiste Micheál Martin is to travel to Luxembourg today for a monthly meeting with his European counterparts.
The conflict in the Middle East and the war in Ukraine are at the top of the agenda and the foreign affairs ministers are expected to discuss the EU’s response to the fighting and reaffirm their support for ceasefires and diplomacy.
EU ministers will be addressed by the UK’s foreign minister David Lammy – the first address of its kind since Brexit. The British minister will jointly evaluate a number of key foreign security and defence issues with the group.
4. In this morning’s lead story, Róisín Cullen reports from a cannabis factory in Canada which gives a glimpse of what the future could hold for Ireland and it’s drugs policy.

5. Hezbollah has said that its fighters have fired artillery rounds at Israeli troops attempting an “infiltration” into south Lebanon. It said fighters had also targeted the soldiers elsewhere with rockets, including in south Lebanon’s Labbouneh area.
Israel’s military said a Hezbollah drone killed four soldiers at one of its northern bases on Sunday. The attack took place on a military training camp.
It was the deadliest assault on an Israeli base since 23 September. Emergency services reported more than 60 wounded.

7. The first of a number of legal cases calling for the Government’s redress scheme for survivors of mother and baby institutions to be extended is due to come before the High Court today.
The Journal understands that a number of survivors are in the process of building legal cases to have other institutions also added to the scheme.
8. An armed man, who posed as a member of the media at a rally in support of Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump at Coachella, California, was arrested shortly after it was found that he was using fake ID and licence plates.
A loaded handgun, a loaded shotgun and multiple rounds of ammunition were also found inside his vehicle before he was arrested and removed from the site. A number of social media posts have falsely claimed the man attempted to assassinate Trump.
9. Four people will appear before before the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin in relation to a €8.5 million cannabis seizure on Friday.
Shortly after 3pm on Friday, gardaí stopped two vehicles and carried out planned searches of a business in Tallaght in Dublin. During the searches, 429kg of cannabis – with a street value of €8.5 million – was seized.
The men will appear before a judge at 10.30am this morning.
