1. #DALLAS Five police officers have been killed by snipers during a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas. Police are still in a stand-off with one of the suspects, who said that bombs were planted in the city’s downtown area.

2.#CONSOLE Accounts connected to Console have been frozen in the UK by the country’s charities commission. The Department of Foreign Affairs has also sent auditors to London to look at the charity’s books.

3. #IRAQ Thirty people have been killed at a blast at an Iraqi Shiite shrine. Over 50 people were also injured in the attack.

4. #USA The US State department has reopened its internal investigation into possible mishandling of classified information by Hillary Clinton and top aides. The issue surrounds 22 emails sent from Clinton’s private email server, and had been suspended while the FBI was investigating the same server.

5. #FINE GAEL Enda Kenny has been described as “damaged goods” by one Fine Gael minister, according to the Irish Independent – and is under pressure to make clear his departure plan from his role as Taoiseach. Kenny hasn’t responded to the claims.

6. #COURTS An actor was left permanently scarred after being slashed in a row with a teenager over ecstasy tablets.

7. #NORTH KOREA The US is to deploy missiles in South Korea as North Korea warned that the latest US sanctions against its leader amounted to a “declaration of war”.

8. #FAMINE There have been calls for a fixed date in the Irish calendar to remember the Great Famine. Minister Heather Humphreys said in response that she “did not consider it desirable to fix the same date each year, given the factors that may need to be considered”.

9. #HOUSING: Families living in homes owned by Fingal County Council say they are facing eviction over not being able to pay their rent but are not liable to receive rent supplement.
