1. #NEW MISSION: Naval vessel the LÉ Eithne is being sent to the Mediterranean to help tackle the ongoing migrant crisis. It’s expected the ship will depart Irish waters later this week.

2. #TERROR: One of two gunmen shot dead at a Texas event exhibiting cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad had been a terror suspect, according to court documents, the BBC reports. 

3. #RIGHT TO DIE: TDs are ‘willing to break ranks’ to support a planned new right-to-die law, the partner of Marie Fleming has said. Tom Curran has been working with a team of four barristers to draft the legislation, which is now complete.

4. #DEATHS: The bodies of two people have been discovered in a house in Co Wexford. Gardaí are not treating the deaths as suspicious. It’s believed they died as a result of drug overdoses.

5. REPOSSESSIONS: Repossession orders have risen by 500% since January, according to figures in today’s Irish Times. The Circuit Court granted 586 orders since January, compared to 95 last year.

6. #BOSTON: Convicted Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has cried in court, as relatives urged the jury to spare his life, according to USA Today. 

7. #PROBLEMS Structural defects have been found in two of Dublin’s busiest bridges. Consultants are being called in to carry out special inspections of Butt Bridge and Talbot Memorial Bridge, the Irish Times reports.

8. #FRESH PRINCESS Kate’s baby’s been named – but what are the implications of her arrival for the line of succession for the British throne (poor old Harry)?

9. THE OUTLOOK: The weather forecast for the morning isn’t great – there’s a ‘yellow alert’ rain warning in effect.
