1. #ABUSE CLAIMS: A diary held by a victim of alleged sexual abuse by a former minister will be key to an investigation by gardaí, The Herald reports. The politician’s party are reported to be “stunned” by the claims.

3. #DEN BOSCH: A man is due to appear in court this morning in connection with the death of his wife, an Irish woman, in the Netherlands. The body of the 64-year-old woman was found at her home on Monday.

4. #HOSPITAL CARE: Patient safety will be targeted in a range of new measures due to be announced by the Minister for Health, RTÉ News reports. This will include the establishment of a National Patient Safety Office and a patient advocacy service.

5. #ELECTRO THERAPY: There has been a 70% increase in the number of electroconvulsive therapy programmes administered without consent in 2013 compared to the previous year. The increase has been described as “very worrying”.

6. #REPOSSESSION: Figures published in The Irish Times place the number of homes banks have sought to repossess since the start of the year at 4,500. 82% of properties were primary homes.

7. #OIREACHTAS: Security at Leinster House is due to be beefed up after a TD was harassed in the car park. RTÉ News details that she was challenged on her voting record on Traveller rights.

8. #JOBS BOOST: The coalition aims to boost the number of jobs in the country to record levels over the next five years, if re-elected. The Irish Independent details the plan due to be announced later, which will include a focus on quality of life.

9. #MIGRANT CRISIS: Sweden is temporarily reinstating border checks to deal with an unprecedented influx of migrants, making it the latest country in Europe’s passport-free Schengen zone to tighten its borders over the crisis.
