Eight-year-old boy dies following quad bike accident in Clare

The accident happened last night when the quad bike he and his father were travelling on hit a stone wall.

AN EIGHT-YEAR-old boy, Ultan Hayes, who was seriously injured in a quad bike accident yesterday evening in Whitegate, County Clare has died in hospital from his injuries.

The accident happened last night at about 9.10pm near Mountshannon when the quad bike he and his father were travelling on hit a stone wall.

There was no other vehicle involved in the crash.

The boy was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital with serious injuries and later transferred to Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

His father, aged 41, was also injured in the accident but not seriously.

The collision is under investigation by gardaí.
