1.#BODY: The body of a man has been found in the Phoenix Park this morning. Gardaí are preserving the scene at Wellington Road and appealing for information.

2.#LIGHTS OUT: The ESB group of unions will today formally serve notice of industrial action. The move comes after talks aimed at breaking the impasse at the company were unsuccessful. If members strike, there will be power cuts before Christmas.

3.#FOSTER CARE: Five foster carers in Cork are looking after children despite having their application rejected. A new report from HIQA shows that a further six families had had children placed with them wiithout prior assessment.

4.#CHELSEA MANNING: The family of jailed Wikileaks whistleblower Chelsea Manning are in Dublin looking to raise support and awareness for the former US Army Private. Manning, who was jailed for leaking sensitive cables to the transparency watchdog, has begun gender reassignment treatment, a move the family say is a “shock”, but one they support.

5.#KERRY: A 19-year-old man will appear in court in Killarney this morning charged with the murder of Susan Dunne. The 53-year-old was found in her home in Lixnaw on Tuesday. She had suffered head injuries.

6.#CANCER: New figures have shown that the death rate of Ireland’s older women from cancer is higher than the EU average. The Eurostat figures also show that Ireland has the second highest death rates of women due to melanoma in the skin.

7.#CONSUMERS: A customer’s access to goods or a competitive price can depend on where they live. That is according to a new report by the European Customer Centre. The report found that most people suffered problems with the purchasing of electronics, clothes and downloads.

8.#PENSIONS: Women are being urged to take up pensions after new figures showed that about 70 per cent of women don’t have one. According to research carrid out by Standard Life, the trend for female pension ownership is down year-on-year.

9.#LABOUR: The Labour Party Conference gets underway today in Killarney. It is the party’s first conference in over 18 months and here are the motions that we will be looking out for.
