1.#NEWBRIDGE: Newbridge Credit Union has been taken over by state-backed Permanent TSB. Campaigners in the town have vowed to take the fight against the move to Europe.

2.#NEARY: A new redress scheme is to open for women who underwent unnecessary operations under Dr Michael Neary. It is estimated that around 35 women will qualify for the scheme, aimed at women who disqualified on age grounds from the first scheme.

3.#RENT: The cost of renting rose across the country, with a shortage of available housing causing Dublin rates to rise sharply. The Daft.ie report says that the average national rent accelerated to 4.8 per cent, with Dublin up 7.8 per cent.

4.#IBRC: Two former executives of IBRC have taken legal action against Independent News and Media. Alan Dukes and Mike Aynsley dispute an Irish Independent story entitled “Inside Anglo: how bankers partied on”.

5.#TYPHOON: Ireland has pledged €1 million towards relief efforts in the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan killed an estimated 10,000 people in the city of Tacloban. 4 million people have been affected by the typhoon and the head of the Red Cross in the country has called the devastation as “absolute bedlam“.

6.#STABBING: Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a woman was stabbed in Dublin’s city centre. The 24-year-old was attacked by a group on O’Connell Street.

7.#JOBS: Recruitment website Indeed.com is set to hire 100 new staff. The jobs will be officially announced by Taoiseach Enda Kenny later today and will be advertised on indeed.jobs

8.#SYRIA: The opposition in Syria, the Syrian National Coalition, have agreed to join peace talks – if conditions are met. The Western-backed council says it will join the talks in Geneva if Bashar al Assad’s government creates humanitarian corridors and release women and children.

9.#WICKLOW: A motion of no-confidence in the Wicklow county manager will today be tabled over the deaths of two firefighters. The council was fined €350,000 over the deaths and Sinn Féin councillor John Brady says that neither he, nor the deceased men’s families have faith in county manager Eddie Sheehy.
