1. #NO LET-UP: An ‘orange alert’ warning from Met Éireann remains in place this morning, after a weekend of heavy rain, strong winds and flooding. The West was worst hit, and OPW minister Brian Hayes is on his way to Limerick to assess the damage.

2. #TRIBUTES: Friend and former co-stars of Philip Seymour Hoffman have been paying tribute following the death of the Oscar-winning actor. The 46-year-old died yesterday from an apparent drug overdose. HollywoodReporter.com have put together a compilation of his most memorable roles.

3. #DEALS: 122 holders of distressed mortgages have reached settlements with AIB as part of a new initiative between the bank and advice group the Irish Mortgage Holder Organisation. The IMHO was given €150,000 by AIB last November towards the running of a third party body to advise mortgage-holders behind in their payments.

4. #BONUSES: Chairman of NAMA Frank Daly has said bonus payments may be necessary in order to keep key personnel at the agency. According to the Irish Examiner, the board of NAMA is so concerned about the issue its begun talks with the Finance Minister.

5. #ARRESTS: Two men have been arrested in Waterford after young man was seriously assaulted in the early hours of yesterday morning. The 22-year-old was assaulted shortly after midnight yesterday in the Williamstown area of the city and is said to be in a critical condition.

6. #RAPID TRANSPORT: The National Transport Authority is proposing three rapid bus transit routes for Dublin which could cut journey times from the suburbs to the city by almost 40 per cent, The Irish Times is reporting. The three routes would cost up to €650 million.

7. #HOODWINKED Over 4,000 learner drivers have been duped into booking their theory test on ‘rogue’ UK websites, and they’ve paid over the odds to do so. According to The Irish Times, the Road Safety Authority is concerned about the situation and is launching a new campaign to steer Irish learners in the right direction.

8. #BAD SMELL: It’s emerged the Department of Social Protection spent almost €4,000 investigating bad smells in 2011. On two occasions in different locations the Department carried out an “investigation of odour/smells”. The Department has not confirmed what the smells were.

9. #PANTIGATE: Have you seen Panti’s powerful speech on the Abbey stage yet? The clip has racked up over 20,000 views on Youtube since last night. Around two thousand people congregated in Dublin city centre yesterday to protest at the treatment of debate around homophobia on RTÉ.
