1.#ORGAN DONATION: The head of the Irish Kidney Association has accused the Health Minister of “not being good enough” on the issue of organ donation. Mark Murphy says that James Reilly and the Government are doing the “bare minimum” on the issue.

2.#LOCAL GOVERNMENT: The cost of local government this year will be north of €1.21 billion. The figures, obtained by Labour TD Kevin Humphreys, show that despite a third cut in three years, Dublin City Council will be the largest recipient of the funding at €52 million.

3.#SAVED: Childrens Allowance will continue to be paid in it’s current form, after the government shelved plans to means test the benefit, the Irish Independent reports. The decision will come as a victory to middle-income families.

4.#LIBYA: At least 31 people were killed and over 200 injured when militiamen in the Libyan capital of Tripoli opened fire on protesters. The protest was demanding the removal of militias across the country and the establishment of an army and police force.

5.#WICKLOW: An extra ambulance and six staff will be based at Newcastle Hospital in County Wicklow, it has been confirmed. The move comes after the announcement that the emergency department at Loughlinstown Hospital was slated for closure.

6.#CASE: A lawyer representing a group of Irish people suing the manufacturer of faulty hip implants says cases could be settled before Christmas. The Irish Examiner says that Peter McDonnell claims that the cases could be settled for “well in excess” of the €220,000 figure in the States.

7.#STRATEGY: The Irish Times says that the Government will set out a six-year strategy to international investors. The plan will come as the country leaves the bailout and is likely to be published on 16 December. It will be aimed primarily at job creation.

8.#ANIMALS: A group of veterinarians say that they are “shocked” that the new animal welfare bill would allow the docking of tails of puppies. Tail docking is often carried out without anaesthetic and vets warn it can make dogs sick.

9.#BLING BLING: The Irish jeweller who designed Victoria Beckham’s wedding tiara is to sell the diamond crown, expecting to raise up to €30,000. Slim Barrett told the Irish Daily that the piece is a “one-off” and that Beckham only borrowed it for her wedding to David in Dublin 14 years ago.
