1.#STORM: The clean-up from this week’s storms continues, as ESB crews work to restore power to nearly 50,000 homes.

2.#GSOC: The Garda Síochana Ombudsman’s Commission will take legal advice to unearth who leaked details of electronic surveillance at their offices. The controversy over bugging has raged all week, after the Sunday Times revealed “anomalies” had been found at the watchdog’s HQ.

3.#TOP UPS: The HSE has warned a number of hospitals that it will cut funding if they do not comply with public pay policy. Five hospitals and charities are still not compliant with the guidelines.

4.#FLOODING: Extreme weather in Britain has claimed at least two lives. A woman was killed in London after a building collapsed onto her car, while an 85-year-old man was killed by a “freak wave” while on a cruise liner in the English Channel.

5.#LABOUR TALK: The Labour Party will hold their second conference in the last three months today. The delegates in the Johnstown House Hotel in Enfield, Co Meath, will hear from party leader Eamon Gilmore twice.

6.#POOR HEALTH: Health Insurance is causing a major rift between the coalition partners, The Irish Times reports. The paper says that Health Minister James Reilly has accused Public Reform Minister Brendan Howlin of trying to “frustrate” the introduction of the plan.

7.#PATIENT SAFETY: The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation are to discuss how Irish hospitals can learn from a report published last year that highlighted rumours failings throughout the UK’s National Health Service (NHS). General Secretary Liam Doran said that “lessons must be learned” from the Francis Report.

8.#TOXINS: A study in the US has found that everyday items contain toxins that are linked to ADHD and other brain development disorders. The researchers behind the study say that government’s should change their chemicals policies to combat the problem.

9.#ELLEN PAGE: The actress Ellen Page has publicly announced that she is gay in a speech to a human rights conference. The Canadian star of Juno and Inception said that she was moved to come out in the hopes of making a difference.
