4. #COWEN HECKLED There was no home comfort for Taoisaeach Brian Cowen last night as we was confronted by one of his own constituents. At a meeting of the Irish Creamery and Milk Suppliers Association in Limerick, Eamon McManus shouted angrily from the floor – despite pleas for silence from fellow delegates.

5. RALLY FOR SANITY US television personalities John Stewart and Stephen Colbert will co-host their Rally to Restore Sanity in Washington today.

6.   #ANGLO PROSECUTIONS A decision on whether or not to prosecute anyone following a fraud investigation at  Anglo Irish Bank will be made before the end of the year,  police chief Fachtna Murphy has said.

7. #REFERENDUM Brian Cowen insisted that changing the EU treaty to create a permanent crisis resolution plan may not require a national referendum here. Whether a referendum is necessary will depend on the details of the plan when it is presented by the European Commission to EU leaders at their next summit in December, Cowen said.

8. #CHAMPIONS Shamrock Rovers were crowned League of Ireland champions in Bray on a dramatic final night of action.

9. #WILLIE SWEAR: A Limerick granny has told the Irish Sun, that former minister Willie O’Dea told her to ‘feck off’ while canvassing in Limerick after she asked him about December’s budget.
