1. Killarney

A man has appeared before a court in Killarney, charged with the murder of his brother.

Padraig O’Connor died following an assault on 28 June.

2. RTÉ

Any reform to RTÉ’s funding model must be sustainable in the long-term, said Taoiseach Simon Harris.

Speaking at Night and Day festival in Roscommon, he said that the solution must not be a “sticking plaster”.

3. Natasha O’Brien

Natasha O’Brien, the woman who was the victim of a vicious assault by a soldier who received a fully-suspended sentence, called for the introduction of new hate crime laws while speaking on stage at Dublin’s Pride festival.

4. Green Party

Both Roderic O’Gorman and Pippa Hackett have proposed different visions for the future of the Green Party should they be chosen to replace Eamon Ryan as party leader.

O’Gorman wants to see the party focus more on social issues, expanding out from their traditional domans of climate and nature restoration, where he believes they are already strong.

Hackett wants to maintain environmentalism as the core value of the party, and bridge the divide that she believes has grown between the party and voters.

5. Private Landlord

Ireland’s largest private landlord, Ires REIT, has been left struggling against high interest rates and falling share prices, leaving them with a portfolio they are struggling to grow.

6. French elections

Polls have opened in France for the first round of snap elections called by President Emmanuel Macron in the wake of his party’s shock defeat in the recent European Parliamentary elections.

It is the first of two rounds of voting, the second to take place on 7 July.

7. Cliffs of Moher

At least 13 tourists have been blown over by high winds at the Cliffs of Moher over the last two years, with many suffering a litany of scrapes, bangs, and bruises at the 200-metre high attractions.

8. Hotel tax

Hoteliers have hit back at a proposed hotel tax from Dublin City Council.

The Irish Hotels Federation said that the proposal would force a further rise in prices, making Ireland unattractive as a tourist destination.

9. Glastonbury

Coldplay wowed fans last night with their headline performance at Glastonbury festival.

The band were joined on stage by a number of guests, including legendary actor Michael J. Fox.
