1.#GSOC: Reports in today’s Sunday Times say that the Garda Síochána Ombudsman’s Commission (GSOC) ordered a surveillance sweep after a senior garda let slip information from a confidential investigation. However, the Garda Press Office has issued a “no comment”.

2.#BODY: Two men have been arrested after a body was found in Laois. The 26-year-old deceased is reported to have been stabbed.

3.#POWER: Around 25,000 homes were in the dark last night, despite ESB crews working late into the evening. Around 35,000 homes had their power restored, ESB Networks said.

4.#CHARITIES: The new charity regulator will cost around €1 million for its first year. After that, the Minister for Justice expects that it will become “largely self-financing”.

5.#HOSPITALS: There are huge differences in mortality rates from similar illnesses in different hospitals, the Sunday Business Post reports. The paper reports that a new survey out tomorrow will break down the number of deaths from common conditions in Irish hospitals.

6.#NIGERIA: The Tánaiste has told the National Union of Journalists that he is “deeply concerned” about an anti-gay law in Nigeria. Eamon Gilmore was reacting to controversial statements from a Nigerian politicians.

7.#FLOODING: Britain is bracing for more flooding today, with Prime Minister David Cameron warning that the worst is not yet over. At least two people have died in the flooding.
