1. #WALKER Paul Walker, star of the hugely popular ‘Fast & Furious’ action movies, has died in a car crash in Los Angeles. Officers found a Porsche Carrera GT engulfed in flames when they responded to reports of the collision.

2. #GLASGOW The investigation is continuing into Friday night’s tragic helicopter crash in Glasgow. Eight people were killed and fourteen seriously injured when a helicopter came down on top of a crowded pub.

3. #RAID A luxury K Club mansion believed to belong to bankrupt developer Seán Dunne has been seized by the state’s bankruptcy authorities, according to the Irish Mail on Sunday. around 70 paintings were also seized.

4. #BUBBLE The Government is planning to intervene to help control the Dublin property market, where prices have been rising due to under-supply. An audit is being carried out to establish who owns residential land and who has planning permission, according to The Sunday Times.

5. #ADAMS Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams is to meet a rape victim who was the subject of an internal investigation by the IRA, the Sunday Independent reports. Party TD Pearse Doherty recently rubbished claims from Fianna Fáil that such victims existed.

6. #KILLARNEY The Labour Party conference comes to a close in Kerry today. Speaking to TheJournal.ie, Minister Joan Burton has said it will not be a “return to boom time instantly” when the EU/IMF bailout ends later this month.

7. #UKRAINE Opposition leaders in Ukraine have called for new protests against President Viktor Yanukovich. It’s over his refusal to sign a trade pact with the EU. Rallies have continued overnight, with thousands gathered on the main square in Kiev, the BBC reports.

8. #AIDS Today is World Aids Day. Dóchas, the umbrella group for Irish aid agencies is warning that the disease is falling down the Irish Government’s list of priorities in its international aid programme. The group says this is despite Ireland showing “a historic commitment” to global HIV services.

9. #MIFFED “Goverment ministers have been more than miffed in recent days. The media has not bought the Great Turnaround Story”… Read Damien Kiberd’s latest column for TheJournal.ie.
