1.#INVESTIGATION: Police in London are appealing for witnesses after the body of an Irishman was found in an alleyway over the weekend. The man has been named as 37-year-old Wexford man Michael Hunt.

2.#ROAD DEATH: Gardaí in Tipperary are appealing for witnesses after a 28-year-old man was killed when the car he was a passenger in hit a ditch overnight.

3.#FIREFIGHTERS: Dublin fire fighters are using life-saving breathing apparatus sets “under protest”. The fire fighters’ union SIPTU had requested the sets be replaced over concerns that the sets are unsafe.

4.#MH370: The missing Malaysian Airlines plane was taken off its flight path by a turn programmed into the aircraft’s computer navigation system, probably by someone in the cockpit, the New York Times reported late last night.

5.#ABORTION: A young Kildare couple have told TheJournal.ie that Irish laws forbidding terminations for medical reasons have forced them to travel to Britain this weekend in order to secure an abortion. The couple have been told that their baby has a severe form of Spina Bifida and would not survive outside the womb.

6.#WHISTLEBLOWERS: Gardaí have said that morale in the force is “in the toilet” over the recent GSOC and Garda whistleblower scandals. A number of gardaí told this website that “rank protects rank”.

7.#FIRE: A woman is being held over a fatal fire that killed two men in apartment in Mallow, Co Cork last week. The woman in her 20s was arrested yesterday afternoon.

8.#RUSSIA: Vladimir Putin has begun the process of incorporating Crimea into the Russian Federation. Putin today instructed the organs of power in Russia to approve Crimea becoming part of Russia.

9.#PAYOUT: Department store Penneys says it will pay out $12 million in compensation to victims of a factory collapse in Bangladesh that killed over 1,000 people. The company says the payouts will begin this week.
