Tributes flood in for 19-year-old killed in weekend farming accident

TRIBUTES HAVE BEEN flooding in for the 19-year-old who was killed over the weekend in a farming accident.

Adam Mangan was working on a farm in Derryarkin, near Rhode, when the incident occurred shortly after 4.30pm on Saturday afternoon.

It’s understood the accident involved a farming trailer.

He was pronounced dead at the scene before being taken to Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore.

Adam is well-known in the area for his involvement with the Offaly minor football team and also Tullamore Rugby Club.

His club Kilclonfert wrote a touching message on its Facebook page, saying

The darkest of clouds is cast over Kilclonfert this evening as news of the terribly tragic and untimely death of one of our fine young players, Adam Mangan has occurred.
Words just don’t describe the sadness that is in our club and community tonite. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ray, Janette, Shane, Mark & Cathal and all their extended family and friends.

Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) are investigating the incident.

No funeral arrangements have been announced yet.
