Man still being questioned over disappearance of man found in quarry

A MAN IS still being questioned over the disappearance of a Galway native whose body was found near the Cliffs of Moher.

The Folan family have requested privacy in a statement released this morning.

The statement said:

As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for the family and they’d appreciate if all media, including photographers, could please refrain from approaching the house and any member of the family.

The body of Adrian Folan was found at a quarry near the Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare yesterday.

Folan (41) had been missing from Athlone in Co Westmeath since last Thursday.

His body was removed to Limerick Regional Hospital for post-mortem. The results of the PM have not yet been released but are expected today.

Arrest

A man in his 40s was arrested in Galway yesterday in connection with the disappearance of Folan.

The man is still being questioned at Galway Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, gardaí said this morning.

Folan was reported missing in early July. He was last seen alive in Athlone Town on Thursday 3 July at approximately 11.40pm.

Gardaí had expressed concern for his welfare.

Witness appeal

Gardaí are now appealing for anyone who may have seen anything unusual or suspicious in and around the quarry at Kilconnell, Liscannor, since 3 July to contact them.
