'I used to feel like crying but to get a window you can see out properly, it's like winning the Lotto'

Age Action is looking for volunteers to help with its Care and Repair programme.

“I USED TO get depressed and down and I’d feel like crying, when these come they’re so cheerful and even to get a window that you can see out through the window properly, you have no idea.

It’s really like winning the Lotto to me. It’s the best thing that ever happened to me.

Age Action Care & Repair client Sally Gorey says the charity’s handyman and befriending service has changed her life.

“Two men came and they were great…I dunno how many things they’ve done for me. They’re so helpful.

Now Peter is great really because he’s always in good humour and he’ll say ‘what do you want done now today Sally’ and he’d do anything for me.

The programme is currently based in Dublin, Galway and Cork but is delivered nationwide through local committee groups where volunteers work directly with Age Action.

Justin Moran from Age Action told TheJournal.ie that the charity is looking for volunteers to help with the work.
