Agreement reached over controversial turf cutting

AN AGREEMENT has been reached between turfcutters and contractors regarding the areas designated and protected as EU habitat sites. There are 31 such sites on bogs around the country. RTÉ reports that the Irish Peatland Council said that under the agreement, no turf will be cut on those 31 sites after 2pm tomorrow, although turf that has already been cut there can still be removed.
