Take a break and watch Alanis Morissette's 2015 update of Ironic

“It’s like swiping left on your future soulmate.”

BELIEVE IT OR not, it’s 20 years since Alanis Morissette’s Ironic arrived in the world – sweeping the world and soundtracking millions of late 1990s bedsit parties (maybe ‘gatherings’ would be more appropriate – perhaps it stops being a party once Alanis comes on the stereo).

The singer appeared alongside James Corden on the comedian’s US late-night show to mark the anniversary of the Jagged Little Pill album – unveiling some very 2015 new lyrics for the hit song.

Case in point:

“It’s like swiping left…”

c1 CBS CBS

“A No Smoking sign…”

c2 CBS CBS

“It’s singing Ironic, but there are no ironies,” one of the other lyrics went. (Which is very meta, in a very 2105 sort-of way).
