Get The Look: 6 high street buys to recreate Alannah's California-inspired living area

Alannah went for browns, oranges and a ‘pop of Palm Springs pink’. Here’s how to steal her style.

Each week, we step inside a reader’s home, and indulge in some copycat behaviour, creating a shopping list inspired by their interior style.

This week, Alannah Monks’ (@alannahmonks) cosy corner was our inspiration.

“This is the family room in our house and I really wanted to create a sense of warmth while also making it a playful space for the kids,” says Alannah. “I’m hugely influenced by American design and particularly the desert states like Arizona and California, so I kept the colour palette in shades of neutral browns and oranges, with a pop of Palm Springs pink.

Similarly, mid-century design is a big source of inspiration for me so I like to source as much vintage furniture as possible.

Alannah tries to shop second hand as much as possible, with Adverts.ie, Oriana B. and The Vintage Hub among her favourite haunts. Below are six high street items that’ll help you get the look in your own home…

1. Aztec print cushion cover, €22.99, H&M

The colours in this cushion cover perfectly complement Alannah’s space.

3. Large plant, €19.99, Jysk

This artificial plant is reasonably priced – and because it’s faux, you can tuck it away in a dark corner and not worry about it dying.

4. Abstract print, €16.60 (£15), Abstract House

If you’re not keen on painting your wall like Alannah has done, this print is a good alternative.
