Alex White had his car stolen last week

A briefcase was also stolen during the burglary, but the Department of Communications has said it didn’t contain any sensitive documents.

ALEX WHITE’S CAR has been recovered in Crumlin after it was stolen from his house in Terenure last Thursday night.

A number of electronic devices were also stolen from the Communication Minister’s house, as was a briefcase.

A spokesman from the Department of Communications confirmed that most of the items taken have since been recovered, including the car – a Ford Fusion – and the briefcase.

“No sensitive State papers were stolen and there is no cause for concern in this regard.

“The Minster believes this was an opportunistic burglary and he would like to put this matter behind him.”

A Garda spokeswoman confirmed that an investigation was ongoing following the incident.

It’s just awful that his house and car were “compromised” like this….
Please don’t say his laptop or mobile phone were hacked again…

I do not think the people who stole his property would have the mental capacity to even turn a computer on, never mind hack sensitive information.

    Shane,
the fact that his car wasn’t burnt out means that this is more than your average house burglary. Also burglary is rife because people like you think that the perps are stupid,

Ha some people on this are really fools. People think its ok his car was robbed and house burgled just because he’s a politician. And the car wasn’t burning when they found it because usually there parked up for a hit or maybe to rob someones else’s house

the fact that it wasn’t burned out points to professional who wanted documents and laptops and phones. Burning out the car would draw attention to the crime quicker than the perps wanted.

The Minister for Energy prefers to drive an ugly old Ford Fusion rather than an electric car, that says everything you need to know about the impracticality and undesirability of ecars. Neither Minister White’s predecessor Pat Rabbitte nor Mr. ecar himself one-time Green Party Minister for Energy Eamon Ryan have purchased one either! But still 10s of millions of electricity consumer’s money continues to be wasted each year to support a few hundred privately owned Irish registered electric cars. I thought it impossible to find a class of Irish person more subsidised by the state than an Irish speaker, farmer, or traveller family, but with the ecar programme our government has accomplished this difficult feat.
