Close to €1 million worth of cocaine seized at Rosslare Europort

Over 13 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated value of around €918,000 were discovered when a Bulgarian-registered cab unit was stopped and searched.

REVENUE OFFICERS TODAY seized cocaine worth almost €1 million at Rosslare Europort in Co Wexford.

The seizure came as a result of “risk profiling” and with the assistance of detector dog Daithí and Revenue’s mobile x-ray scanner.

Over 13 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated value of around €918,000 were discovered when a Bulgarian-registered cab unit was stopped and searched, having earlier arrived on a ferry from Dunkirk, France.

A man in his 40s was arrested by gardaí and taken to a Garda Station in Co Wexford.

A Revenue spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.

The spokesperson also urged businesses or members of the public who have any information regarding drug smuggling to contact Revenue, in confidence, on 1800 295 295.
