Teen arrested after trying to hijack ambulance

It’s understood he drove a few metres before being restrained by the crew.

A MAN IN his late teens has been arrested after trying to hijack an ambulance in Dublin this morning.

The incident happened on Mountjoy Street at around 8.45am.

A garda spokesperson said: “He drove the ambulance a few metres before it tipped off a pole.” It’s understood he was then restrained by the crew until armed gardaí arrived and arrested him.

Gardaí said the man was arrested “following an unauthorised taking of a vehicle”.

He was taken to Mountjoy Garda Station where he was charged under the Road Traffic Act before being released.
