American football stars among victims of Alabama shooting - reports

Three people were killed when a gunman opened fire at a student accommodation in Auburn overnight.

TWO FORMER UNIVERSITY football players were killed in a shooting in the Alabama city of Auburn last night, according to local reports.

Ed Christian, Ladarious Phillips and one other person were shot dead by a gunman who was attending a party at a student accommodation in the university city last night.

Another man named locally as Eric Mack - a current Auburn Tigers player – is in hospital suffering from a gunshot wound.

At least five people were shot during the incident.

According to AP, the gunman opened fire after a fight broke out during a pool party at the apartment complex just minutes away from campus.

Auburn Police Chief Tommy Dawson told the Opelika-Auburn News that police were called Saturday night. He did not say who was shot or discuss their conditions.
