THE FUNERAL DETAILS of Ana Hick – the Dalkey teenager who died after collapsing outside a club in Dublin city centre at the weekend – have been confirmed by her family.
According to RIP.ie:
“Reposing Tuesday in Quinn’s of Glasthule from 12 noon to 3pm.
“Removal Wednesday to the Church of the Assumption, Dalkey arriving for 11.30am Funeral Mass followed by burial in Shanganagh Cemetery. House strictly private.”
The listing says Ana will be deeply missed “by her heartbroken parents Elga and Tim, her grandparents Gabby, Susan and Tim McMurray, Rosa, Eric and Niamh, the extended Hick and McMurray families and a very wide circle of friends whom she adored”.
Friends of the 18-year-old gathered last night for a memorial at the Irish Film Academy, where she had been studying.
Ana was taken to the Mater Hospital at around 3am on Sunday morning, after she collapsed outside the Twisted Pepper. She passed away on Sunday evening.
Reports suggest she may have taken two ecstasy-type pills. Gardaí area awaiting results of toxicology tests.

My condolences to her family but at 18 years old she was old enough to know that taking anything drug related is harmful and risky and it’s terrible that she died but if it was another child from any other area that this happened to would they receive the same amount of media coverage . Am going to be seriously red thummed for this but I’ve got to say it like it is.
Deirdre , I disagree. The media would be focusing on it regardless of the area a person is from. They are not reporting this because she came from a good area , they are reporting it because its a tragic thing to have happened and it also highlights the dangers to others .
Well suzie maybe your right but there have been many a 18 year old who have accidentally died from taken a drug of any sort how many have you seen highlighted in the news and been honest it won’t deter any child from taken any drugs because it’s out there not matter where you live but to me as I said these kids know the risk before hand and choose to ignore them they all think they are invincible and it’s the poor families that have to grieve for them later on and as I say condolences to her family and to any other family who have lost their child this way no matter where they are from
I agree had it been someone from the inner city or other deprived area around Dublin it would not make the news, Ecstasy was pretty big when I was 15 to 22 early to mid 90s I didn’t do it because you didn’t know what you were taking. Sadly this girl has paid a price I think the media should just leave her family to greave.

Deirdre , I disagree with the part about the the areas but I do agree with you on the rest of your comment .
Doesn’t matter when(if) she took them. It doesn’t make her any less dead. She made a silly mistake trying to fit in or for whatever reason and has paid with her life. We have all made mistakes at that age.
No matter how you look at it a child is dead.
As a teenager I remember looking at photos and news stories about Leah Betts. Seeing her surrounded by tubes and machines trying to keep her alive scared the living day lights out of me.
Kids will be kids and some of them can do incredibly stupid things. Not one of us grown-ups can put our hands on our hearts and say truthfully ‘I have NEVER done a stupid thing in my life’!
Hopefully this girls mistake will serve as a warning to other teenagers in the same way Leah Betts did for me.

We’re talking about a human being who became another victim of the drug trade leaving behind heartbroken friends & family.
But I S’pose if there’s anything to be said for all the media coverage, let’s hope it makes the next kid think of this girl before popping one of those blasted pills.

She took drugs Saturday not Friday so it would be am on Sunday

Ye so she was out Friday night sadly took the pills and was brought to hospital 3am Saturday not 3am Sunday.
So @justaoife instead of trying to make me look like the fool you should do some research yourself. The journal are the only news reporting agency that didn’t correct this part of the story.
Oran. The journal is not the only one reporting that , the Irish times. the indo , the herald and the mirror for what its worth all reported the same thing .
Ye your right they where but they all corrected themselves. All you have to do is Google when the Hannah wants concert was. It was Friday night. I know that cause she was a friend of the younger brother. She was in the hospital Saturday 3am with her mother and all her friends and boyfriend by her side. I understand there is always going to be a chance of someone getting the day wrong but enough time has passed for them to correct it. I know it’s only a small thing given the context of the story but it still means something.
