German airport worker crashes van into Angela Merkel's plane while attempting to take a picture of it

The incident happened at Dortmund Airport yesterday.

A GERMAN AIRPORT worker has damaged Chancellor Angela Merkel’s plane after accidentally crashing a van into it during an attempt to take a picture of the aircraft.

BBC has quoted German newspaper Der Spiegel, which reports that the van crashed at Dortmund Airport yesterday.

According to the report, the woman driving the van became excited after seeing the “Federal Republic of Germany” sign on the plane.

It’s understood that she jumped out of the van she was driving in order to get a picture.

However, the report adds that the woman forgot to put the handbrake on the van before she exited it, which caused the vehicle to roll into the aircraft’s nose.

The German Chancellor was not on or near the aircraft at the time, and was forced to return to Berlin by helicopter while the damage to her plane was assessed.
