Angela Merkel to give talk at Trinity on the 'globalised world'

Taoiseach Enda Kenny is also due to address the event, which takes place as the European People’s Party congress is underway in the capital.

THE GERMAN CHANCELLOR Angela Merkel is due to visit Trinity College in Dublin today, where she will speak at an event organised by the university’s philosophical society.

Merkel will be accompanied by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny during her visit.

The Chancellor is in Dublin for the European People’s Party congress, which is taking place at the Convention Centre in Dublin today, having kicked off yesterday.

The two-day event by Europe’s largest political parties has seen a host of EU heads of State and other prominent figures visiting the capital.

Merkel will be a guest of honour at a special event at 3.30pm today, hosted by Trinity’s Philosophical Society in association with the Office of the Provost.

She is due to address Trinity College students on the topic of Europe in a Globalised World.

Trinity College’s Deputy President, Professor Linda Hogan will open the event and Enda Kenny will also make some comments, after which Chancellor Merkel will address the students.

Students will get to ask questions of the German Chancellor during the event.
