Thousands of supporters pay respects to Munster legend Anthony Foley

THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE have been paying their respects to Munster head coach Anthony Foley, following his untimely death at the weekend.

The former Ireland international died ahead of the province’s Champions Cup clash with Racing 92 in Paris. He was 42 years old.

Books of condolence have been opened in various locations across Munster and beyond.

Flags were flown at half-mast outside Limerick City and County Council buildings as a mark of respect.

Yesterday, people told TheJournal.ie what Foley meant to them, with one noting: “He gave everything for Munster and Ireland.”

Books of condolence can be signed at the following locations:

  • Clare County Council
  • Cork City Council
  • Cork County Council
  • Kerry County Council
  • Kilkenny City Hall
  • Limerick City and County Council
  • Tipperary County Council
  • Waterford City and County Council

An online book of condolence has also been opened by Limerick City and County Council. People can leave their names and messages of tribute here.

Books of condolence are also open at the University of Limerick Sport Arena, Thomond Park and the Irish Independent Park (Musgrave Park) in Cork.

In Dublin, fans can pay their respects at the IRFU offices on Lansdowne Road and at the GPO on O’Connell Street.

A book of condolence will be open in the Irish Embassy in London (17 Grosvenor Place SW1X 7HR) every day from 9.30am to 4.30pm until Friday.

Fans have also been paying tribute on the Facebook page of the Munster Rugby Supporters Club.
