Mother of 8-year-old Anthony Ward charged with his murder

Diane Ward, the mother of Anthony Ward, who was found dead in Cork on Monday, has been charged with his murder.

DIANE WARD, THE mother of 8-year-old Anthony, has been charged with his murder.

According to RTÉ News, the 43-year-old woman made no reply when formally charged and is set to be remanded to Dublin.

She is due to appear in court in Newcastle West next Tuesday.

Anthony Ward had been found at his home on Monday morning, with Gardaí saying at the time that they were treating his death as a ‘tragic incident’. A postmortem examination subsequently showed that he had died of asphyxia.
