4 of a kind: Spacious apartments that could easily accommodate a family

European-style family apartments are gaining popularity in Ireland, and here are four that caught our eye.

THE NEED FOR more space becomes inevitable as families grow and priorities change. For many of us, this results in a move out of town and a longer commute.

Not so elsewhere in Europe, where family apartments mean city (or at least, city-adjacent) living can remain a possibility no matter how many bedrooms you need.

This week, we’ve rounded up four roomy apartments that would be ideal for a family.

Ashtown, Dublin 15

Three double bedrooms and a large balcony are sure to draw anyone who’s craving more space to this apartment in Dublin 15. Spread over 1,044 sq ft, this home sits on the third floor of Royal Canal Court, a secure apartment block just a few minutes from the village of Ashtown.

Access to the balcony from the lounge and from one of the bedrooms means the apartment in drenched in light. Even sweeter is Royal Canal Court’s proximity to Phoenix Park, meaning family trips to Dublin Zoo are always a handy possibility.

It’s on the market for €340,000.

Clongriffin, Dublin 13

It’s not every day that an opportunity to buy a Dublin apartment at this price point comes along. Just 300 metres from Clongriffin DART station sits three apartments spread over three floors, each with their own balcony. For sale as one unit, this is a great opportunity for someone who needs the space, but not the commute, seeing as Grafton Street is just thirty minute drive away.

The build has gas fired central heating, double glazed windows and modern kitchens and bathrooms throughout. And the daily commute to town is made even easier with five designated parking spaces, too.

It’s on sale for €650,000.

This south county Dublin apartment has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a handy ground floor location, meaning no lugging a buggy up the stairs. White walls and sparkling floors accentuate the feeling of space, while plenty of storage in each room means areas can be kept clutter-free.

All of the bedrooms are double-sized with the master enjoying an en suite bathroom. A private balcony also adds more space. The LUAS and Saggart village are both within easy walking distance, while the N7 is a five minute drive away and leads on to the M50.
