GARDAÍ ARE RENEWING their appeal in tracing the whereabouts of Aengus Shanahan who disappeared from Limerick on 11 February 2000.
Tomorrow marks the 17th anniversary of Aengus’ disappearance.
Aengus, better known as ‘Gussie’ is the youngest in a family of four and lived with his parents Bob and Nancy at Ashbrook, Ennis road, Limerick. His mother has recently passed away.
Shanahan was an employee of Dell, Castletroy, Limerick. He finished work on Friday afternoon 11 February and went to Coopers bar in St Joseph Street.
He was due to stay that night with friends in Saint Joseph Street but didn’t.
It has since been established that he left the bar on his own at 10.30pm and walked from there onto Old School House Lane, which connects with Barrington Street. That is the last sighting of Gussie.
When he did not return to work on Monday, his family reported him as a missing person.
Aengus’ family and Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have seen Gussie or have useful information and who have not been in contact previously, to do so now.
Gardaí are also appealing to anyone who may have seen Gussie on this Friday night or early the following morning to come forward, especially Taxi Drivers in the Limerick area.
