Apple confirms iPhone event for 4 October, is this a sneak peek?

The company has confirmed an event next Tuesday entitled: “Let’s talk iPhone”.

APPLE IS SET to unveil the next generation of its iPhone device next week after confirming it will hold an event in California.

In a typically cryptic but not too cryptic media notice, the company said it was holding a “special event” entitled “Let’s talk iPhone” at the company’s headquarters in Cupertino on Tuesday, 4 October, Reuters reports.

The event will be closely watched particularly as it will be new CEO Tim Cook’s first major product unveiling since the departure of chief executive Steve Jobs in August.

There have been a plethora of rumours surrounding the latest incarnation of the hugely popular smartphone with some bloggers even going as far as to design mock-ups of what it might look like.

Intriguingly, below is the latest image to emerge which may well be a sneak peek of what the device will look like. It is reported to have been posted by Vodafone in Australia before being pulled (via TVRav):
