Woman falls 45 feet off Aran Island cliff and survives

The woman suffered only a broken leg.

A 21-YEAR-OLD woman had a miraculous escape today after falling 45 feet off a cliff on the Aran Island of Inis Mor.

The woman was walking near “the Wormhole” pool near Dún Aonghasa when she fell 45 feet, around four storeys.

Locals ensured her safety in the water and the Coast Guard was called, dispatching the Rescue 115 helicopter from Shannon at around 2.45pm.

The woman was taken to Galway University Hospital, where she is being treated for a broken leg.

In a separate incident, a walker was airlifted from the Cliffs of Moher after falling and breaking her leg.
